June 22nd 2008 -
The  mid- June tournament schedule has created excitement at Fieldstone Golf Club.  On Saturday, June 14th Fieldstone hosted the Anniversary Cup Net Championship.  The Ladies title was won by Paula Chua while the Men's division was won by Mark Scott.  On Wednesday, June 18th the team of Jerry Case ( 3 time Senior Club Champion), Chris Case, Ron Stewart, and Herb Hirzel  won the June Member Guest Title.  On Saturday, June 21st Fieldstone held seperate qualifiers for the McGladrey  PGA Team championship and the Delaware Long Drive Competition.  Both events came down to the wire as the late entries played pivotal roles in the outcome.  The PGA McGladrey Team Championship ( best ball of three) witnessed 12 teams compete for the right to advance to the sectional championship in Philadelphia.  The first group of the day ( Mark Scott, Ron Shane, and  Bob Oswald)  posted a low number (63), that seemed to be the score to beat.  However, a few groups back was the  team of Dave Heaney, Steve Dellose, and Tom Kurey who bettered the leaders by 1 shot.   The leaders appeared to have a comfortable lead until the final group of the day, (Rand Mendez, Paul Kupcha, Brian Galinat), posted the lowest score in the event's history, 13 under (58).  On the same day the (First Tee / Delaware) long drive qualifier concluded with Dawn Schieffer and Ellie Lorenc advancing as the women's winnners and Jeff Stroble and Bob Alexander advancing as the men's representatives.  On Sunday, June 22nd the final four for the Men's and Ladies' Tradition Cup was decided as Ron  Stewart and Dennis Bernard  advanced to the finals against defending champions Jerry Case and Bob Winter.  In the Ladies Tradition Cup the team of Shelley Swalley and Lisa Quadrini have advanced and will look to de-thrown 2007 champions Ellie Lorenc and Connie Dejohn.
