Lorenc and DeJohn Win 2008 Ladies Tradition Cup
On Sunday, June 29th  Ellie Lorenc (Six time Club Champion) and partner Connie DeJohn set out ot defend their 2007 Tradition Cup Championship against Lisa Quadrini and Shelley Swalley.  The champs were looking to become the first ever repeat winners of the four ball championship but the duo of Quadrini and Swalley had upset in mind.  The contenders set the tone early as they (Quadrini and Swalley ) took an immediate advantage after a Swalley net birdie on the first hole.  However the champs rallied winning the next two holes to go one up.  They would never trail again.  They finished off the match in championship fashion with natural birdies on holes 13 (DeJohn) and 14 (Lorenc) to secure the victory 5 and 4.

Congratulations to the 2008 Tradition Cup Champions Ellie Lorenc and Connie DeJohn!

Fieldstone's Andrea Daly wins State Amateur Championship
Andrea Daly shot a four-over-par 75 today to win the 57th annual Delaware Women's Golf Association Amateur Championship at Newark Country Club. Andrea, a 2006 recipient of Fieldstone's J. Simpson Dean Scholarship, carded a 75-76-75 over three days to record a final round score of 226, defeating defending champ Katy Heskett (231) by five strokes. Heskett's 74 was the low round today. Three-time champ Meghan Adams, last a winner in 2006, finished in third at 237. Daly entered play today with a four-stroke lead on Adams, with Heskett six back. Adams was within three strokes of Daly after 13 holes, but on Nos. 14 and 15, Daly went par-birdie and Adams went bogey-bogey. Heskett made par over her final eight holes to secure second place. Daly recently graduated from St. Mark's High and is headed to Methodist University. Adams' other wins were in 2003 and 2005. She was bidding to join three others as four-time winners. That list includes Charlotte K. Balick (1967, 1969, 1972, 1976, 1977, 1983), Patsy Hahn (1956, 1957, 1959, 1961, 1962) and Pam Clark Brown (1994, 1995, 2001, 2002).

Rogatz Wins Club Championship in Sudden Death
Jeff Rogatz is congratulated by runner up Rand Mendez Jeff Rogatz is congratulated by runner up Rand Mendez
Jeff Rogatz won his first club championship in dramatic fashion at the 2008 Fieldstone Cup Men's Stroke Play Championship.  In the final pairing on day two, Rogatz teed off in a tie for second place with 2007 Founder's Cup Champion Pete Danby, two shots behind three time club champion Rand Mendez.  At the turn the lead remained two for Mendez with both players firing two over par 37's on the front.   A birdie barrage on holes 15 and 16 and a par on 17 gave Jeff a one shot lead heading to the last hole.  A lost ball off the tee led to a double bogey forcing a sudden death playoff.  Both players headed back to the eigthteenth tee where pars halved the hole.  The playoff then moved to seventeen where both players split the fairway off the tee.  Mendez played first, hitting his approach long and left into the collection area.  Rogatz wedged to the front fringe, and after Mendez failed to get up and down two putted to clinch the victory.

Lorenc wins Sixth Consecutive Championship
Ellie Lorenc wins her sixth club championship Ellie Lorenc wins her sixth club championship
Ellie Lorenc entered the 2008 Lisa Dean Moseley Ladies club championship as the reigning five time Ladies' Champion.  The forecast heading into the weekend was for unbearable heat and as the weather heated up on day one so too did eventual runner-up Connie DeJohn.   During Saturday's first round Connie posted the low round and forced Ellie to play catch up.  Heading into the Sunday finale the longest winning streak in club history appeared to be in jeopardy.  Facing a three shot deficit the defending champion rose to the occasion besting Dejohn by four shots in the final round to take her sixth consecutive championship.

April 13th 2008 -
On Friday evening Fieldstone hosted the 2008 Men's Opening Day Team Selection party.  During the two hour event which featured a product show from Callaway and a wine tasting, teams were randomly selected for Saturday's event.  Although it allowed players only a few hours to gel and acquaint themselves, one team discovered a synergy and camraderie that guided them to a thirty under par score and the title of Men's Opening Day Champions.  Members Dennis Bernard, Jim Clymer, Daryl Hendricks, and Jack Donnelly bested the field of fifteen teams and were crowned with the first official title of 2008.  Dennis Bernard further enhanced his status on the official money list with a shootout victory after golf, knocking his 66 yard pitch to approximately five feet.  Other winners of special contests included: Closest to the pin Lee Hagenbach (Holes 3 and 6), Mike Clark (Hole 8), and Bill Bechtold (Hole 13), Longest Drive- Frank Sidlow (Hole 2), and Rich Levy ( Hole 18).
It was a great start to the new season and the golf staff looks forward to many more fantastic events in 2008.
