May 20th 2012 - On Friday, May 18th the field of twenty four teams began play in the 2012 Fieldstone Member - Member Championship. The two day match play event was highlighted by perfect weather and near perfect course conditions. Each of the six flights battled through three nine hole matches to determine an overall flight winner. Each of the flight winners secured a spot in the three hole sudden death shootout for the overall championship. Ultimately the title was decided by a single shot on the final hole with the team of Rand Mendez and Ted Morris edging the runners up, Jeff Abbott and Harry Moss. While Morris continued his winning ways (2012 Opening Day Champion) Mendez capped his Saturday with a 63 (member record score) and a birdie on the final playoff hole to help give his team a net aggregate score of ten and the one shot victory. The event was a clean sweep for the team as they also won the short game skills contest held Friday evening. |
